Becoming a vegetarian is an important decision in anyone’s life. Whether you oppose eating meat because of a simple distaste for the meat itself or you have a more deep-rooted issue with eating animals, many vegetarians are quick to sing the praises of soy. Technically part of the legume family, soybeans are an excellent source of protein, and as such, they make a fantastic substitute for the protein one usually gains from eating meat.
But soy isn’t just for the vegetarians and vegans in your life. Soy has an amazing range of uses. It’s little wonder it’s been used in China for nearly 5,000 years as part of their diet and a component in their drugs! In modern day, soy still shows up in many of our foods, but it also makes an appearance in our candles. Even if you don’t realize it, many high quality candles are actually made of soy. For the next gift giving event, consider giving your vegetarian friend a soy candle along with a large box of frozen garden burgers!

As many are aware, it’s becoming increasingly common for people to fall ill. Whether it’s from overusing antibiotics or simply not eating right, people are simply more likely to fall victim to everything from the common cold to more serious strains of viruses. If you don’t believe the trend, just ride a public bus. You will quickly be surrounded by coughing, hacking, and the pitiful look of someone suffering from cold symptoms.
But while people may acknowledge the increase in sickness, not many people realize that a very large contributing factor is the increase of stress in our everyday lives. Stress from our jobs combines with stress from our family lives, and we tend to couple that with a lack of sleep and poor eating habits. It’s a surefire recipe for getting sick. Increase your chance of escaping cold season without grabbing the tissue box by investing in a scented candle or two. Place them in your bedroom or line your tub with them. The fragrance will really melt away the stress and help keep you healthy and happy.

Nowadays, candles are often used for aromatherapy and less common for illumination. And the search for choices in scented candles is very easy through the use of internet. Bu t with so many variety that are now available in the market, it can sometimes get confusing which scent will suit you most.
It’s a good thing that the assortment in scents now comes in the form of tea lights. This allows you to try various candle fragrances without having to spend so much on huge sized candles. Though a scented tea light candle can last for a shorter time than the bigger ones, but then if you happen to be dissatisfied with its scent, at least there’s nothing much that will be wasted.
Having a garden party on warm summer evening is a pleasurable intimate gathering to anticipate. Here are some easy to follow steps to decorate your outdoor yard using an assortment of candles without breaking the budget.
1. Illuminate paths, driveways, pool decks, stairs and dark corners with paper bag lanterns made from tea lights and brown paper lunch bags. Don’t forget to place few rocks inside each lantern to serve as anchors.
2. Tie decorative paper Chinese lanterns, or other inexpensive multi-colored or bright white sting lights through railings and pergolas.
3. Place candles, tea lights or votives on buffet tables and bars. But do keep candles in a safe container or candle holder.
4. Place citronella candles around seating areas to deter insects. Make sure they are not too close to the food, as the smell can overpower flavors.
5. Float candles in pool, bird baths or ponds as this will enhance the appeal and can give illuminating effects on those certain areas.

Unwind after a long day in the office. Come home to an aromatic environment by lighting scented candles as you prepare dinner or soak in a warm bath. De-stress with vanilla-scented candles and let your tiredness roll off your shoulders. Even for just an hour or two, take some time to clear your mind of worries and simply inhale wonderful fragrances.
Lighting soy candles and other natural vegetable wax candles is environmentally friendly. Have more time to take it slow around the house or put your feet up while you listen to soft sounds on the radio. Scented candles are great items to have at home because you can always enjoy the subtle qualities of a quiet life anytime you need to during the day or night.
Throughout history people have found many substances that provide light when burned. These were often plant or animal fats and oils that were used soon after being harvested.
In modern times the discovery of petroleum which was formed after plant and animal remains were exposed to great pressure over a significant period of time created a completely new branch of scientific discovery and exploration. Paraffin-based candles and scented candles are the results of this science.
Unfortunately, burning petroleum (in any form) produces unfortunate byproducts including carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and volatile organic composites which contribute to particulate matter in the air. These are the factors responsible for many respiratory and other health problems for those exposed.
For these reasons natural wax scented candles are gaining in popularity. One only need do a side-by-side (or room-by-room) test to discover the benefits of clean burning petro free candles.
Breathe free…
I really don’t enjoy gift shopping! If you understand what I mean then no further explanation is necessary. I think that civilization is divided into two sectors; those who enjoy gift shopping and folks like me.
There are however certain types of gifts that are almost sure to please. Among these are a tastefully scented candle that complements the holiday spirit.
There is still time to have these pleasing gifts delivered before Christmas but don’t delay.
Happy holidays to all

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Even if you can’t be with your own family you find that friends (or even strangers) become your family. Sharing thankfulness with others is a uniquely satisfying experience.
After spending the day in the traditional fashion I decided that a warm bath and a moment of reflection was in order. Of course this ritual demands the luxury of aromatherapy provided by a Vanilla Hazelnut soy candle, one of my personal favorites.
And so, at the end of a perfect day, my eyes wandered to the nearby mirror where the gentle light from my candle revealed a reflection… the face of a very contented, very thankful person.
May you all be so blessed!
