Since people first ignited a piece of straw in a bowl of oil it has been necessary to occasionally adjust the length of the wick to maintain the most desirable burning characteristics. This is still the case today and also applies to the modern natural oil scented candles.
We have found that soy candles, and in particular, candles in a container that does not have a uniform diameter from top to bottom will benefit from an occasional trimming.
Many sources have recommended trimming the wick to a length of 1/4 in. but we have observed better results by trimming to a shorter (down to 1/8 in.) length. You will soon discover the optimum length to provide a good light without leaving a wick that is too long to burn cleanly.

There are different kinds of candles from hurricane candles to votive candles. One of the more popular and versatile types is the tea light candle. This candle may be the smallest and perhaps least elaborate, but it can function well.
It can be used to decorate any table setting or garden setup. Tea light candles can be placed inside luminaries or colorful glasses to set the ambience of a place. This candle is also used in ceramic aromatherapy oil burners.

Candles, although attractive as home decorations, may be toxic, especially when the fumes are inhaled. Most candles are made of synthetic material such as paraffin wax. These candles leave a burning smell behind, which can be harmful to the environment.
An alternative is using soy jar candles. These candles make use of soy wax, which comes from hydrogenated soybean oil. It is a healthier alternative because it produces less soot and elicits a cleaner fragrance into the air. Because it does not contain petroleum, it is an eco-friendly alternative.

If you’re having trouble sleeping at night you’re not alone. Many people struggle to fall asleep each night. For some it’s insomnia, for others it’s stress. Either way it’s important to know that a lack of sleep can negatively impact a person’s health. People who don’t sleep enough may experience trouble concentrating, irritability and even ulcers.
But before trying prescription sleep medication, try an all-natural alternative. Vanilla-scented candles are known to help people relax and get rid of anxiety. Vanilla essential oil has been used for centuries for its calming and soothing effects.
People don’t usually put too much thought into buying candles for their homes. But they probably would if they knew how many toxic chemicals were used in making most paraffin candles. There is an alternative—100% soy candles burn far cleaner than their paraffin counterparts.
Using only pure soy candles can reduce the amount of air pollution in your home. Make sure that the soy candles you buy are 100% soy. You can tell by checking the label. Many candles are a mix or soy and paraffin, but manufacturers try to pass them off as pure soy.
Last week I returned home to New England after a week-long vacation in Jamaica. It’s rained almost every day since I have been home, and between the office and unpacking I have barely seen the sun.
I had such an amazing time in Jamaica, and I dreaded returning home to the dreary autumn weather. The resort I stayed at was all-inclusive. I would begin each day lying on the beach drinking pina coladas. After a few of those frothy, coconut concoctions I would make my way to the dance club. The Macarena was definitely my favorite dance, I don’ care if it is outdated—it’s fun!
Anyways, all those days on the beach left me with a sun burn. After my first day back at work I cruised by the drug store where I planned to purchase some soothing lotion. A candle display caught my eye, and I realized the only thing I had smelled lately my own odor, stale from travelling. I grabbed a couple coconut-scented candles, paid and headed home.
I lit one of the candles that night, and about an hour later was pleasantly surprised by the warm coconut smell emanating from little wax mold. I made myself a pina colada, spread out on a blanket in front of the fireplace, and created my own little Jamaica in New England.

A tea light candle is different from other candles because they are usually used to warm tea or food. Tea lights may look little but they last for many hours. This is because the wax liquefies completely when it melts, while continuing to burn. Tea lights are encased in lead, while most other candles are free form or in glass jars.
Tea lights give out very little light and are not usually used for that purpose. If anything, they can be used as nightlights because the burn for a long time.
Those that use tea lights should beware of fire risks. As the tea light burn and wax is consumes, the lead holder heats up and can eventually ignite if not properly put out.
I just bought some scented soy candles for my after work ceremony and I could not be happier. They added a light touch to the experience that I superbly enjoyed. After work today, the water was just right and I had a luxurious bathing experience.
The next day I was so refreshed and soothed from my soy candle bath that people commented on how vibrant I was. And I felt it too; it was from that added mix. The friend who recommended it to me deserves a cupcake.

When I come home from work, what I like to do best after kicking off my shoes and getting something to eat is to sink right into the bathtub for a relaxing session. I just feel so drained after work and to sit in the tub and have some time to myself without any demands is such a huge luxury.
On special days, I bring out my cinnamon scented candle to use. It fills the room with a wonderfully soft aroma that I just melt into. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend trying it after a long day.
